About A London Life

A London Life is a blog about living in London, written by a dad who is no longer a new one. It mixes thoughts on the city, parenting, and whatever else has my attention: neighbourhoods and places to live, wider observations, and the occasional tangent.

It started as a way to write more often and has grown from there. If you like reading about London, parenting, or the odd digression, you’re in the right place.

The more personal writing now sits in its own section, Chris’s Blog, kept a little apart so the London writing can stand on its own.

The History of A London Life

I started this in 2020, just after my daughter was born and in the middle of lockdown. It was part outlet, part record of the city at a strange time. It has broadened since, though it is still personal and still happy to wander. The earliest posts are archived in Chris’s Blog, and I set out why I began in my first post:

And yes, it shares a name with a rather grim Henry James novel. The name at least seemed to fit.

Why Subscribe?

Well, that is a fairly hard to answer. At the moment, everything is free, and I don’t expect that to change. I hope people may enjoy some of the posts, and it would be great if you want to subscribe purely for my own self-respect…and ego.
